Frazeit

For anyone who likes to use Google to help with understanding how a particular word in Portuguese is used in real life, there’s a new search engine called Frazeit.  Luckily, it supports Portuguese.

Another cool thing about it is that is supports regular expressions.  So, for example, if you encounter the expression “não podia deixar de”, you can include all conjugations of “podia” by searching for não pod* deixar de.  The fourth search result was the following:

Mas não poderíamos deixar de dar uma chance àquele anjinho de lutar pela vida.

Which helps us to understand that this phrase means “couldn’t help but”.
